Christians and Politics

As we are within months of the presidential elections, it is time for the Christian right to become vocal. We need to speak our minds, work for righteousness and not compromise with worldly thinking. This is a critical time for our nation and we need strong leadership that will seek the help of Almighty God in the performance of the duties of the President of the United States. Regarding the proper involvement of a Christian in the political process, consider the words of Charles Spurgeon:

"Till religion in England is entirely free from State patronage and control, till the Anglican Papacy ceases to be called the national religion, till every man of every Faith shall be equal before the eye of the law as to his religious rights, we cannot, and dare not cease to be political. Because we fear God, and desire his glory, we must be political — it is a part of our piety to be so."

Yes, it can be part of our piety to be political. Stand for Pro-life candidates and stand for those that commit to marriage as between one man and one woman. These issues are the most important because our Godly stand will bring the blessings of God on our nation which will impact our economy, our protection from terrorism and our energy issues. Remember that "righteousness exalts a nation." We should be praying for the elections now.
