We Should Pray Without Ceasing

The news is not good concerning our economy. The government is buying private businesses to keep them from failure. There is a famine in the land just like in the days of Egypt where the government ended up owning every thing. God's people, those that believe in, cling to and trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation, must pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5: 17 says: "Pray without ceasing." The word "pray" is in the imperative mood which means that it is a command and not an option. It is in the present tense which means that it is to be a continuous action and not a single event. We need to pray for repentance for our nation. We are a country that sacrifices children through abortion just like the children of Israel burned their children to the pagan god Molech. Just like Sodom and Gomorrah, we permit homosexuality which mocks God's plan for the family. Secularists believe that if they can get the right man into office as President then he will fix the problems. It is not going to happen, no matter who is elected unless there is repentance from our national sins, our country is doomed. There is much to pray for and about.

E.M. Bounds wrote the following concerning praying without ceasing:
"Here are some of the comprehensive, and exhaustive statements of the Word of God about prayer, the things to be taken in by prayer, the strong promise made in answer to prayer:
'Pray without ceasing;' 'continue in prayer;' 'continuing instant in prayer;' 'in everything by prayer, let your request be made known unto God;' 'pray always, pray and not faint;' 'men should pray everywhere;' 'praying always, with all prayer and supplication.'
What clear and strong statements are those which are put in the Divine record, to furnish us with a sure basis of faith, and to urge, constrain and encourage us to pray! How wide the range of prayer, as given us, in the Divine Revelation! How these Scriptures incite us to seek the God of prayer, with all our wants, with all our burdens!"

Let us stop criticizing and start praying; let us not worry but pray; and finally, let us cry unto God in faith believing that He will hear and answer. America needs prayer and lots of it.
