It Is Not Turkey Day!

This Thanksgiving morning I awoke to open my E-Mail to send out a daily devotion I write and this was from my local newspaper:
"The Weekend Scoop: Happy Turkey Day."

It is not "turkey day!" Imagine the silliness of having a day dedicated to a turkey. Why would we want to celebrate the turkey? No, it is just another example of how a godless world attempts to eliminate a Holy God from our society. Thanksgiving is a holiday that has resisted the pull of materialism. You don't give gifts; you don't buy special clothes; it is during the work week so most get a day off. Why? You get a day off to remember that we are to give thanks to Almighty God who provides for us. He gives us the air we breathe and causes our hearts to continue to beat. Every good thing we have comes from God. Today, if someone says "happy turkey day," inform them that to you it is not a day dedicated to lunch; it is a day dedicated to thanking God!
