Do You Have Any Strong Holds?

2 Corinthians 10:4 says: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds...." The Greek word for "strong holds" is ochyrōma and it means "to hold fast. A stronghold, fortification, fortress. Used metaphorically of any strong points or arguments in which one trusts." We normally think about a strong hold as a negative. However, we should have some positive strong holds for God. We should believe with all our heart and mind that the Word of God is true and then live it out each day. We should be so convinced that what God says about us is true that no one or no spirit could convince us otherwise. We should be so convinced that we walk in abundance and not lack, that nothing (including our bank book) could change our minds. We should so believe it is God's will to heal that we can not be convinced otherwise by symptoms or doctors' reports.

How can we develop this type of strong hold for God? First, look how a negative strong hold develops. It begins with a thought. That thought is dwelt upon until it becomes a fixed imagination. Finally, that imagination becomes so strong that it begins to control the person. What starts with a thought eventually becomes an addiction that overpowers the individual. Second, begin to think about the Word of God continually. Get it fixed in your inner person that His Word is truth. Let that imagination become an addiction to you. Become so convinced in the truth that no force will be stronger to uproot your convictions. Become addicted to God and His Word.

You can develop a faith that can withstand all attacks. However, you must first develop a strong hold for God' Word. When it is so settled in your inner person that what God has said about something is the truth then your stronghold will enable you to defeat the enemy, failure, lack, sickness, disease, and want.
