The Beginning

An Hebraic approach to living the abundant life is found in the book of Genesis. We need to start at the beginning to see what YHVH had planned for His creations. There are three principles found in the first chapter that if followed will bring you to a place of abundant living. First, there is the principle of dominion. Genesis 1:26 says: Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." (RSV)God gave man dominion over the earth, Man (and woman) are to be in control. We are to take action as opposed to being the helpless victim to random chance. Second, there is the principle of blessing. Genesis 1:28 says: And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." (RSV) The first words heard by Adam was the blessing YHVH gave Him. It was a blessing contained in the words of YHVH. Man is blessed. If we are blessed, why don't we act like it? We need to confess that we are a blessed people. We have no lack, no want, and the enemy has no power over us. Third, there is the principle of seed time and harvest. Genesis 1:29 says: And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. (RSV) This last principle governs how the dominion and blessing will become operational in your life. We plant seeds and they produce after their own kind. You plant love; you reap love. You plant hate and discontent; you reap hate and discontent. Whatever you want in life can be obtained by planting the right seed for it.

We have previously learned that you plant a seed of faith by speaking it. Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." (RSV) We plant seeds of faith and we reap the results. We speak to the problem, not about the problem. This is the opposite of most believers. They seem to emphasis the problem. Listen to prayer requests. They are more about the problem than they are about the solution. Speak the answer not the mountain. We are to command the mountains to flee. They have to if spoken from the lips of one who believes in his heart the truth of the words spoken.

The start of every answer to every problem is found when you act on knowledge received. You have dominion over your circumstances. You are blessed by YHVH. You can plant the seed that will produce the harvest for that you seek. Read and meditate on the Word of God. Speak the Word of God. Act as if the Word of God is true. The principles from the first chapter of Genesis will put you over and you are already a success (perhaps you just didn't know it).
