Have you ever taken a small child to a public park? How would you describe your watching the child? Do you only occasionally check on the child while you talk with someone? Or, do you keep your eyes glued on the child to make sure that nothing happens to him or her? Most people are very attentive to their small children. They don't take their eyes off them. They do this to make sure the child is safe. In the Jewish Study Bible, Jeremiah 1:12 says in part: "For I am watchful to bring My word to pass." If God has spoken something in His Word, He is going to keep an eye on that word to make sure that it comes about.
It should be obvious why we are to speak God's Word on a subject. If there is sickness or lack, we need to speak God's Word over the circumstances so there is something for God to watch over. It is our duty to impose His Word on the situation. We do that by our confessing, i.e. saying the same thing He says, His Words. We make His Words our words. The two are in alignment and now He will make sure that His Words come to pass. Contrary, if we speak doubt and fear, there is nothing for Him to watch over. Our speech will demonstrate faith in His Words or faith in the world's words. The world speaks fear and unbelief. God's Word is faith-filled. God's Word is full of faith. Some say that God's Word is pregnant with faith. Our speech should reflect the "now" of faith. Faith is now. We speak it, live it, and God will bring the end result to pass.
What do your words say about your circumstances? Does your speech provide something for God to watch over? Or, does your speech reflect failure, doubt, and fear? God wants you to talk like Him. He wants you to have the same opinion about your circumstances as He does. He speaks words of faith and so should you. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
